      <title>Tango Echo Commercial</title>
      <link>http://www.tango-echo.com//articles/100-million-new-hdtv-sets-in-2010</link>
      <guid>http://www.tango-echo.com//articles/100-million-new-hdtv-sets-in-2010</guid>
<description>"Business Week":http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-03-09/sony-to-sell-at-least-25-million-tvs-next-fiscal-year-update2-.html reported today that Sony predicts it will sell upwards of 25 million HDTV sets in the upcoming fiscal year. Add that to the projected estimates from the other two major producers, LG and Samsung, and we have 85 million units in 2010. Even assuming a paltry 15 million total for the other manufacturers, and we're looking at 100 million new HDTV sets in homes in the next year.

Extrapolating from Sony's product line, around 10% of those units - primarily the high end models - will be internet "ready." Almost all of them will sport at least 2 HDMI digital video inputs. Combine this with the fact that Roku is already on the market for under $100 and the Boxee Box, which "owned CES earlier this year,":http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/01/09/boxee.brown/index.html is expected to show up in Q2 2010 at a sub $200 price.

The result? A group of people roughly one third the size of the US population is going to be looking around for quality programming and will have a nearly reasonably priced option to access the breadth of web video content without jumping through hoops or having a spare computer in the living room. It's almost time for non geeks to start watching web video on their couch.

We've all known this was coming. But what the numbers say is, it may be coming very soon. To celebrate this, we've released the first of our commercials for Tango Echo.

      <title>Monday Drive Timelapse</title>

<description>Tango Echo's Kate Taylor and I went for a drive yesterday to test the rig we'll be using for an upcoming project. We ended up with a few hundred photos shot 20 seconds apart, so we made this timelapse video of our drive.

Kate selected a route that would give us a variety of images, from the inner city to snow covered fields. The first person who can guess our route will win a TE (lightning bolt logo) t-shirt. Email guesses to "info@tango-echo.com.":mailto:info@tango-echo.com Good luck!

<title>Dispatch From The TE Labs: Paul's Giant 12 Sided Die</title>

<description>Possibly to settle a dispute about the ease with which one can install commando public sculpture in Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre's Paul Carson spent a week of free time building this giant 12 sided die. Last weekend we installed it on the vacant lot in Philadelphia where our Pink Tank resides.

The TE crew has one more sculpture planned for the lot. We aim to bring some levity to the neighborhood by creating a giant nerd sculpture garden. For giant nerds.

<description>In the last TE video, I showed some of the clips of fun we've had over the years with air cannons. In this video, I explain how our newest cannon works.

I've been playing with the format of the TE Labs videos lately and I'd like some feedback from our viewers - Do you like this video, with some informative content, or do you only want the smashing and crashing and vaporized meat? Get in touch.

There is even more detail about how to build a cannon like this on in the PopSci article "How to Build My Newest Air Cannon.":http://www.popsci.com/diy/article/2009-12/build-big-pilot-actuated-valve-cheap

<description>The TE crew has had plenty of fun with air cannons over the past few years. From blowing up a bar window with the pirate cannon to vaporizing meat in the ghetto, the same concept has defined all of our cannons: Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.
